Post subject:  What fretboard wood to use w/Bubinga

A student of mine is building a pomele bubinga back/side 00-sized guitar (with Bearclaw Spruce top), and is considering different woods for his fretboard/bridge/headstock overlay. I've suggested that he use bubinga for those as well (a simple but elegant combo which I think looks super-nice), but he wants something else.

Can anyone recommend a wood that would complement bubinga nicely? (I don't particularly like the EIR that he's leaning toward).

TIA,

Stripey macassar ebony, all the way.

My first choice would be black ebony.. and my second, stripey macassar, like dennis said

Yeah, sorry @ the double-post...

I've got some regular ebony, and some macassar. I'll put those out for him to take a look at.

I guess I shoud be happy that I finally (!!!) talked him out of the Purple Heart (!!!#*@!), but I want to keep working on him and his choices. He fell in love with a pretty piece of rosewood, and it will absolutely look great on *some other* guitar, but not on THIS one. That's the hard part for him to accept.

Thanks for the ideas!
